Living in Lake Geneva

Lake Geneva is the #1 place to live in Walworth County and one of the top vacation destination spots in the Midwest. Lake Geneva is regarded to Chicago what the Hamptons is to New York City. The median real estate price in the City Center ofLake Geneva is $370,000. It is more expensive than 83.2% of the neighborhoods, however, it’s also one of the strongest real estate markets in Southeastern Wisconsin. The average rental price in Lake Geneva City Center is currently $1,800. This is higher than 89.3% of the neighborhoods in Wisconsin.

The real estate in the Lake Geneva city area is a suburban neighborhood and is as diverse in its housing stock as one would expect. Homes in Lake Geneva range from the 100-year-old painted lady from the victorian era to new construction subdivisions towards the edges of town. It’s diverse and spans the value spectrum from $200,000 up to $1 million and more in the residential market.

Waterfront homes and commercial real estate comprise the shoreline of this festive town with the City Center focal point being the City Lake frontage. With parks, sidewalks, boat rentals, and the iconic Riviera, the water frontage is the draw for many. Leading in both directions from downtown is the sought-after infamous Shoreline lake path that spans the entire perimeter of Geneva Lake and is truly an amazing way to spend or even a full day for the more adventurous who try to walk it all in one day.

The rental market in the City and more broadly, the Geneva Lakes area is also robust and consists of single-family homes, apartments, and vacation rentals on an availability basis. Numerous properties are purchased each year as an investment for vacation rental income as many see this as a solid investment and diversification of their investment portfolio. New rules and regulations over the last 5 years from local municipalities and from Walworth County governing vacation rentals should always be investigated before buying to understand your options and opportunities.

If you are planning to move to Wisconsin, Lake Geneva should be on the top of your list. For many reasons, the historic district central to the City of Lake Geneva may be considered a homeowner’s dream neighborhood. It’s beautiful, peaceful, quiet, and has above-average safety from crime compared to other neighborhoods in Wisconsin.

Lake Geneva is also a great place to raise a family. Badger High School, Star Central Elementary, Central-Denison Elementary, Wood School, and Eastview Elementary are all highly rated. This, along with the vibrant mix of very educated seniors and other age groups who choose to live here, makes the neighborhood more family and retiree-friendly than 98.9% of neighborhoods in WI. If retiring is around the corner for you, this neighborhood should be one of the places you visit. You’ll find that Lake Geneva offers a diverse range of real estate options to meet your needs.

Life in Lake Geneva

Nestled on the water’s edge, the downtown area is alive with restaurants, coffee shops, boutique stores, and spacious parks. Grab a coffee to go to and enjoy it down by the water-facing benches and take in the tranquility.

The jewel of Lake Geneva is of course the lake itself. There’s no better way to take in its splendor than taking a stroll, hike, or run along the lakeshore path. The shoreline of Geneva Lake is approximately 21 miles, but the path reaches up to almost 26 miles as it weaves in and out of wooded areas along the shoreline. There is so much beauty around Geneva Lake that you’ll want to frequent it over and over again. You can take the same route or take in new sights from different directions and segments of the path. There are multiple access points. You can enter it from either side of downtown Lake Geneva, Williams Bay, Fontana, or Linn township.
